The story
Jan Havránek is a Czech singer-songwriter whose music lives at the intersection of pop and indie, blending melodic accessibility with introspective depth. A diplomat and international politics expert by training, he has lived in Prague, Boston, Brussels, and Washington, D.C., moving between policy rooms and performance stages. Shaped by a life spent between Europe and the United States — and by extensive travels across America marked by countless meetings and conversations with people from all walks of life — his songwriting carries a distinctive cross-cultural perspective grounded in lived experience.
Writing from both public responsibility and private reflection, he explores themes of love, identity, freedom, resilience, and quiet rebellion with emotional honesty. His work reflects the tension between structure and emotion, diplomacy and art, belonging and departure.
He wrote most of the original material for his debut EP, Between Worlds, across March and April 2025, recording it over the following fall and winter. The first single, Childhood Trophies, arrives June 11, 2026, with three more to follow, together completing Between Worlds — a body of work that merges contemporary pop structure with reflective lyricism: intimate, thoughtful, and unafraid to ask difficult questions.
